We are Anna and Austin, and we are overjoyed to share our journey with you. Our passion for sailing was ignited during the 2024 Harborfest in Norfolk, VA. It was a magical moment when we, along with our four-year-old son Sean, embarked on a two-hour sailing cruise aboard the sailboat named American Rover. As the sails went up and the engine turned off, the serene sounds of the wind, creaking wood hull, and flapping sails captivated us. In that instant, I knew this was what I wanted to do, and thus began our journey with RADIAN.
Our Background
We have always been drawn to the water. Anna is an active-duty Marine, teaching conducting at the Naval School of Music in their advanced academics department. I am a retired Marine, also from the band field, currently attending college. Our love for the sea extends to our family; our two middle boys just completed a junior sailing camp in Hampton, VA, and I am set to begin mine at the end of this week.
Our Connection to RADIAN
We are captivated by history, and RADIAN’s rich past speaks to us. It might sound peculiar, but we are genuinely in love with this boat. From her early beginnings at Colvin Manufacturing in Mathews, Virginia, to her storied voyages and races, RADIAN embodies a spirit of adventure and resilience that resonates with us deeply.
On July 10, 2024, we became the proud owners of RADIAN. We are completely enthralled by her history and are dedicated to preserving her legacy. We understand the responsibility that comes with owning such a storied vessel and are committed to keeping her spirit and history alive for many more voyages to come.
